"In November we applied for a grant to buy a van. We were awarded this grant and will be receiving the van sometime this spring. With COVID it takes time for Ford to complete orders and it will be refrigerated, so there is an add-on to be done after the van is built. "We had a company contact the pantry in October that had vans and drivers not fully used. They spent the last quarter of the year assisting us with transferring the food from the food bank so that we had more food available and with an increased frequency throughout the month. Seeing the clients receive a larger assistance has been a great joy to all of us here at the food pantry. Covid has put a big strain on people to care for their families. "In January I was informed that we would be able to receive restaurant prepared meals to add to our distribution to the clients food packages. It has been a joy to receive these. I've been able to hand them out personally to the families and meet each recipient. "As much as I'd like to say I always have a plan on where we're going with this food distribution, I truly put my hands up every morning and say God do as you can, do as you desire. He surprises me often and reminds me to simply be patient in the process. I'm not sure if feeding people is more about their needs or more about our volunteers and my spiritual growth... "Thank you for your support and your prayers. We are still using the bags which have been a wonderful gift to us. "Sincerely, Janelle Morimoto San Lorenzo Family Help Center" | |
