Partner Updates

I wanted to share a few thank yous and updates which have come to Calvary recently. The newsletter from the Olivers was shared in Friday's email, but the notes from Lea's Christian School and the San Lorenzo Family Help Center are new. These are all people and places you've supported with your prayers and gifts. Thank God for including us in his generosity!

He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.  (2 Corinthians 9:10)

here for you,

Matt Behrens, Pastor
Thank You from Lea's Christian School

We recently received a card with this note from Melva Bland, principal at Lea's Christian School:

To our Calvary family,
Thank you for opening your hearts to Lea's on so many levels. We give thanks to God for directing our paths to meet. We praise Him in advance for what He will do with the merging of our ministries. There are many souls looking for a Savior, and we know that Jesus us the answer! From the bottom of our hearts thank you and may our Father bless you mightily!

God's blessings always,, Melva Bland
San Lorenzo Family Help Center

I (Pastor Matt) received an update from the SLZ Family Help Center (the food pantry which operates on the Oromo Church campus on Hacienda Ave). Janelle is the director there, and a sister in faith. Here's part of her email to me:

"A lot has happened in the last three months. So much to be thankful for. I daily say thank you and praise him that we are able to come together and serve this way and help each other.
"In November we applied for a grant to buy a van. We were awarded this grant and will be receiving the van sometime this spring. With COVID it takes time for Ford to complete orders and it will be refrigerated,  so there is an add-on to be done after the van is built.

"We had a company contact the pantry in October that had vans and drivers not fully used. They spent the last quarter of the year assisting us with transferring  the food from the food bank so that we had more food available and with an increased frequency throughout the month. Seeing the clients receive a larger assistance has been a great joy to all of us here at the food pantry. Covid has put a big strain on people to care for their families.

"In January I was informed that we would be able to receive restaurant prepared meals to add to our distribution to the clients food packages. It has been a joy to receive these. I've been able to hand them out personally to the families and meet each recipient.

"As much as I'd like to say I always have a plan on where we're going with this food distribution, I truly put my hands up every morning and say God do as you can, do as you desire. He surprises me often and  reminds me to simply be patient in the process. I'm not sure if feeding people is more about their needs or more about our volunteers and my spiritual growth...

"Thank you for your support and your prayers. We are still using the bags which have been a wonderful gift to us.

"Sincerely,
     Janelle Morimoto

Mission Update - Pastor Oliver in Taiwan

Missionary Stephen Oliver sent an update on his role in Taiwan. He is one of our mission partners, and we're thankful to hear about God's work through his role raising up leaders from within the Chinese culture. Please keep Pastor Oliver and his family in prayer. You can read his newsletter and see some family pictures at the link below.
