Calvary Lutheran School Important Message from Dr. Chivalette  Friday, April 22, 2016     April 22, 2016     Dear CLS Families and Friends,   Preparation for the 2016-2017 school year has begun.  We are excited at the possibility of CLS providing Kindergarten through fifth grade in single grade self-contained classrooms. Therefore, in support of CLS and its continued long-range vision, we strongly encourage all of our current families to re-enroll your children if you have not already done so.  It is the belief of school administration that we need to continue moving in a positive direction by providing our students the very best education.  It is for this reason we have sought to accelerate our program from adding only one individual classroom each year to providing both fourth and fifth grades with their own classroom teacher. We are presently in the process of interviewing a number of qualified and capable candidates to fill the roles needed to keep our school moving forward.  Also, we are adding a preschool summer program which begins June 13, 2016, and will run until July 29, 2016, to aid and support our families.    All full-time classroom teachers have signed contracts to return for 2016-2017: Kim Heggins (Preschool), Jeannene Kintner (Kindergarten), Pamela Smith (1st grade), Annie Wilson (2nd grade), Christina Grace (3rd grade), Carol Chivalette (6-8th grade language arts/Speech), Glen Thornell (6-8th grade math, science, bible), and Dr. C will continue to teach (6th-8th grade history/drama), while serving as school superintendent.    Attached is a collective list of important calendar events which is being sent as a reminder to all of our school families.  I hope to see each of you at these events and activities as we prepare to close out a successful and blessed school year.    Serving God through education, Dr. Michael Hemme Chivalette Superintendent   MHC:nls   _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ APRIL  22-25 - 5TH & 6TH Grade Outdoor Education to Mission Springs  25 - All school Panoramic Picture (9:00 a.m.)   MAY  4 - Middle School Chapel (8:40-9:10) and PS-4 Chapel (9:10 a.m.- 9:35 a.m.)  7 - Biddy Basketball (grades 1-4) at CLS (10:45 a.m. - 12:00 noon)       Calvary Family Association Annual Auction (5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.)  8 - Mother's Day (all day!) 13-14 - Dinner & Musical (tentative) 14 -  Biddy Basketball (grades 1-4) at CLS 10:45-12:00 15 - 7th & 8th Grades Partners in Worship 20 - "Meet Me in St. Louis" - Dress rehearsal 8:45-9:45 am         Teacher In-Service (1/2 Day 11:30 am dismissal) 21 - "Meet Me in St. Louis"- two performances:  10:00 am and 1:00 pm          $3.00 per person and $5.00 per family 30 - No School- Memorial Day   JUNE  1 - Middle School Chapel (8:40-9:10) and PS-4 Chapel (9:10-9:35)  3 - Preschool 'Celebration' 9 am       8th Grade Graduation Banquet - Parish Hall 6:00-7:30 pm  6 - K-8 Field Day @ CLS Campus  7 - Kindergarten Graduation 9:00 am         8th Grade Graduation 6:00 pm

Calvary Lutheran School Important Message from Dr. Chivalette  Monday, April 4, 2016     April 4, 2016     Dear CLS Families and Friends,   On Thursday, April 7, 2016 (6:00 p.m. -7:30 p.m.), we will be holding an Open House at Calvary Lutheran School.  It is important to note that this particular open house has been scheduled for new Incoming families or those currently attending who wish to enroll an additional child at CLS.   We have sought to advertise this event through the radio on KFAX 1100 AM as well as in producing thousands of door hangers which have been placed in the surrounding San Lorenzo, San Leandro, and Castro Valley areas.   We have a great opportunity to grow our school with quality families such as yours as well as sharing with them an education centered in Jesus Christ.   Remember, if you recruit a new family who enrolls at CLS for 2016-2017 you will receive a tuition discount for your child(ren).    Thank you for your support of CLS!   Dr. Michael H.
