Friends in Christ,
Have you ever had an emotional outburst? Have you ever boiled over? Flown off the handle? Flipped your lid? None of that sounds very good. When we burst out with uncontrolled emotion, it's not usually good emotion. That's because deep inside, we still struggle with sin. God's not done with us.
God's still at work in your life and mine, and he's making us more like himself. Deep down inside, he has no sin. In fact, when he lets loose it's a good thing. Listen to this:
As for you, O Lord, you will not restrain your mercy from me; your steadfast love and your faithfulness will ever preserve me! (Psalm 40:11)
God's mercy overflows, and he will not restrain it. Mercy, love, and grace are intrinsic to God's character. This is what naturally flows out from his heart and drives his actions. This is why he sent Jesus to die and rise again – that's his mercy and grace at work for you!
If you've blown your top, admit it to God. He will forgive. Ask for a change inside. God will renew his Spirit within you. He will become the source of good flowing out of your life. He will not restrain his mercy from you.
