CCS - HEALTH & MEDICAL INFORMATION Sick child and mom

*COLD AND FLU SEASON ARE HERE AND IT IS HITING THE WEST COAST AND BAY AREA VERY STRONG THIS SEASON
~ If you feel your child is sick or might be sick, we ask you to please keep them at home.  If your child's temperature is 99.6 or higher, it is considered a low-grade temperature.  Please keep your child at home as whatever your child has is now considered contagious.

A child must be FEVER FREE (NO fever), no diarrhea, and no vomiting, WITHOUT any medication (i.e. Acetaminophen/Tylenol, Ibuprofen/Motrin) in their system for at least 24 hours before they can return to school.

Important steps to help stop the spread of germs:
  • Stay home while sick and limit contact with others
  • Cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing with your sleeve or disposable tissue
  • Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water, or use an alcohol-based sanitizer
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
If you have any questions regarding your child's symptoms, please contact your physician's office and/or doctor.

Thank you!

MAKE HAND-WASHING A HABIT!

Washing Hands *MAKE HAND-WASHING A HABIT ~ Kids who wash their hands at least four times a day have a 24 percent fewer sick days from colds and flue, and 51 percent fewer sick days due to stomach illnesses (Amer Public Hlth Assoc).

Teach kids to scrub their whole hands - up to the wrists and under the fingernails - and to do it long enough to sing the ABCs or "Happy Birthday" all the way through.  A timer works well, too.

YOUR PPP HOURS ARE DUE

BEFORE YOU KNOW IT!

Please remember to complete your PPP hours before the deadline, April 1, 2017, or the charge will be placed on your Smart Tuition, April 15, 2017.

There are many ways to complete those PPP hours.  Below you will find just a few examples:
  • Attend a CFA Meeting.  1 hour meeting, deduct 1 PPP hour.  There is a CFA Meeting this Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall.
  • Rachel Scott and the CFA Hot Lunch program can use your help on Fridays. Great way to help with hot lunch, see your child(ren) with their classmates, as your child sees their mom, dad, aunt, uncle, or even a grandparent helping and serving in the kitchen, while you are burning those PP hours away - how cool!
  • Saturday, January 28, 2017 (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon) - School Beautification Day.  It's that time to spruce up the school campus.  Come and bring a family member or two, help clean up your child's classroom or campus and you can burns more of those PPP hours.

If you have any questions, you may contact the school secretary, Mrs. Nancy or Rachel Scott, CFA/Hot Lunch Coordinator, at (510) 278-2598.

"A Living Hope"
Believers are born into a living hope. However, people who are without Christ have no foundation for their expectations and desires.   Many live with a false sense of security. They assume that what is important in this life is the physical and material. But there is no safety in things (1 Tim. 6:9).  Those who pursue wealth and health rather than God find that their dreams either go unfulfilled or fail to satisfy.

Believers anchor their hope in the solid rock of Jesus Christ. His words are always true and His promises always kept.
I'll sometimes hear a person project his or her unfulfilled desires on God and then argue that He came up short. But Christians who make a request and submit to God's will always get an answer--yes, no, or wait.

The Lord does not disappoint those who seek His will. Don't misunderstand that statement. We might feel temporarily let down when something we hope for is not in God's plan. But He doesn't go back on the biblical promise to give His children the best (Isa. 48:17; 64:4). When one door closes, there is another about to open with something better behind it. Friends, the Lord cannot be outdone. We can't even wish ourselves as much good as God has in store.

The best choice a Christian can make is to fix his or her hope on the Lord Jesus Christ. Welcome whatever fits His will for your life, and turn away from all that does not. Circumstances may shift and change, but Jesus never does. He is a living hope who never disappoints.
