 LWML MINUTES FOR 24 JANUARY 2015 MEETING 9:30AM-11:30AM CONFERENCE ROOM, Calvary Lutheran Church SLZ Meeting opened by Barbara Adams, Facilitator of Lutheran Women Missionary League with prayer. Devotion was Season of Light – John 1:9 – We sang together "As With Gladness Men of Old". In this song the 1st verse referred to a guiding star. The "light" from the star was beaming bright and this is the star that led the wise men from the East to look for the one who was born King of the Jews. The bright light was provided by God to guide them that led to our Savior and King. God wants us to know Him and will let nothing stand in His way of drawing people too Him. Christ is that light that does not go dim but continues to shine brightly. The offerings were taken for regular, Mites & birthday money and a Treasurer's Report given by Marian Holland. On Old Business: Review of National Mites: 2013-2015 Goal $1,830.000; have received as of 31 Dec. 2014,$1,478,723.34 (short $401,276.66) Deadline is March 31, 2015. Review of District Mites: 2014-2016 – received $38,700; goal, $125,090 total. Linda Dutton and Barbara Adams will advertise 2 weeks prior to the 1st of each month and then have Pastor announce that the 1st of each month will be designated as Mite month. New Business: Convention: 2015 Des Moines, June 25-28, 2015; Theme: "Bountiful! Sow-Nourish-Reap". Registration begins Feb. 1, 2015. Calvary will not be attending this year. In June we will getting information on LWML Sunday for October, 2015. We will be doing this on 25 October. Wittenberg Teas: 1st tea: 14 Mar 2015 which has been confirmed with Susan at Wittenberg 2nd tea: 5 Dec 2015 confirmed with Susan at Wittenberg 21 March 15, Spring Rally, Good Shepherd. | Celebration of the Life Ester Garguilo |
| Please join us here at Calvary Lutheran church on Friday, February 13, 2015 as we Celebrate the Life of Esther Garguilo, mother of Jan Kreger. 1:00 pm service with celebration to continue in the Parish Hall for lunch.
We are asking at this time for food to be brought to share,preferably salads and casseroles. If you are able to bring a dish that needs to be kept warm we would like you to bring it hot and we will do our best to keep it warmed for serving.
